About us

Hi There.

I'm Lydia, I own and run Black Marble Media Co. I bought a camcorder with lemonade stand money when I was 7 and haven't stopped capturing photos and videos since (but I have gotten a lot better, I promise). When I was 9 and learned what a photographic memory was, to somehow magically have one was my birthday wish three years in a row. I liked taking photos of my Abuela helping her to believe that every new wrinkle made her even more beautiful. It’s easy to think of our lives as insignificant, but love, for each other and for ourselves, makes our moments significant, and I want to capture your small moments, because often enough, they become the big ones.

I love photo & film because our lives around us are beautiful- and most of the time we miss it. We are rushed, or distracted, or just too hard on ourselves to see the beauty, art, and magic in our selves, woven in every part of our stories, in our day to day lives.

 Some other things about me:

-Next to me in the photo above and is my husband Sweet Eric. He is easily the best part of me, so you have to know him to really know me. 

-Also in the photo is our wolf-pup Apollo. He is a ton of fun, scared of Christmas trees, and all black (we wear mostly black too- mostly so we don't have lint roll every 5 minutes.)

-I was a barista for 5 years and am a self diagnosed coffee snob.

-I love to make bread from scratch.

500 Days of Summer

A movie about a boy and a girl- but its not a love story. Promise. It made me laugh, cry, and has stunning frames from director Marc Webb. It’s not a feel good movie, but still leaves you hopeful.

Arizona Black marble media recommendations

Arizona

If you’ve travelled there, you know- ALL of Arizona from north to south is stunning. Deserts, Mountains, Forests, and yes, lots of Cacti. You can’t go wrong getting a plane ticket that lands in AZ.
